It is the great monument of the city,  located in the historic center of Palma. In Majorcan it is known as La Seu, which is the name that cathedrals received at the time of the Crown of Aragon.

Its construction began on an old mosque during the 13th century, after the conquest of Mallorca. It was raised in honor of Santa María in gratitude for protecting the Christian troops from death.

However, the construction did not end until the seventeenth century, already in a Levantine Gothic style. It is surrounded by the ancient Roman and Renaissance walls that once protected the city. The visit costs 7 euros for adults and for children it is free.

2. Get to know the Bellver castle

Along with the Cathedral of Mallorca, it is another of the most representative monuments that must be visited. It was built by order of King Jaime II of Mallorca during the 14th century. Its style is Gothic and its plant is circular. It is considered the oldest castle with these characteristics in Europe.

Visiting it is one of the most interesting activities to do in Palma de Mallorca, since its interior houses the Museum of the History of the City. In addition, from the terrace you can see spectacular views of both the city and the sea.

The entrance costs 4 euros, although there are discounts for pensioners and young people. However, on Sundays and holidays you can visit the castle for free, but not the museum.

It is the official residence of the kings of Spain during their stay on the islands. Its construction was carried out throughout the fourteenth century, based on the structure of a Muslim palace. It is in the Gothic style and has wonderful rooms, such as the Audience Room.

The visit to the palace has a price of 7 euros, although there are reduced rates for various groups. However, it is one of the free plans that can be done in Palma de Mallorca,  since access is free on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3 to 6 in the afternoon from October to March and from 5 to 8 from April to September.

4. Enjoy the beaches of Palma de Mallorca
