Platea Madrid: The Gastronomic Leisure Center

Platea Madrid: the gastronomic leisure center

Platea Madrid is an important gourmet leisure center in the capital of Spain. We are facing a space that has an area of 5,800 square meters, with a capacity for 1,100 people. All this implies an investment of more than 60 million euros, nothing more and nothing less. Do you think if we take a walk through this gastronomic center?

Having six Michelin stars is an incentive to get to know its twenty bars. Logically, it has an excellent diversified offer. This important multi-space for gastronomic leisure is located in the old Carlos III cinema, which was in the Plaza de Colón.

It has five floors, where there are chefs’ stalls and gastronomy brands. Its primary objective is to feed or sell in a “take away” format. If you want to access this space, there are 3 entrances, being able to do it from Goya, Marqués de Zurgena and Hermosilla streets.

We are talking about a project that was promoted by Triton Capital. Originally, it was planned not as a market, but as a gourmet multi-space. There, traders pay an equity based on a minimum amount, rather than rent. Starting the project involved a high investment at the time.

In this twenty positions, the most distinguished chefs  and a wide offer come together, which is structured as follows:

  • It has a plant at street level, called Patio, where there are a series of positions of various operators, with tables in the center, all of them in an open area.
  • Above the two floors, we have “Arriba”, Ramón Freixa’s restaurant. It is a cocktail bar, as well as a corporate events area.
  • We must not forget that, in addition, there is a highly versatile space with a kitchen managed by the ChefsLab, led by Sergio Pérez.
  • The stage of the old cinema is the one dedicated to the events area.

An important piece of information that should be considered are the synergies created by three great chefs who add up to six Michelin stars and eleven soles from the Repsol Guide. Here we mention Paco Roncero, Pepe Solla and Marcos Morán.

The chefs do not have differentiated bars, but bars in the basement and the patio, depending on the concept of food. Something that the trio of chefs sign together, who were in charge of creating several brands that we report:

  • A Mordiscos : they have sandwiches, skewers and empanadas.
  • Castizo : fried foods, tortillas or croquettes take center stage.
  • Steak : rotisserie chicken, hot dogs, or hamburgers.
  • Spoon : rice, stews and vegetables as protagonists.
  • La Batea : among others, we can taste octopus and oysters.

Ramón Freixa, a great protagonist

Before we talked about Ramón Freixa’s bistro, which has two Michelin stars at its headquarters at the Hotel Único in Madrid. Its average price is 40 euros.

We can eat at the stalls of Platea at an average price that ranges from 20 to 30 euros, with wines or beers in a range of prices that goes from 2.50 to 3 euros, or for 9 euros if we talk about drinks. top brands.
