1. The Alhambra, Granada (Spain)

The Alhambra (qa’lat al-Hamra ‘, Red Castle), so called because of the exterior color of its walls, is one of the most impressive constructions in Spain and the world that still remains from the Muslim presence in the country.

This castle is located at the top of the al-Sabika hill and dominates the entire city of Granada. This fortified city is made up of a set of impressive palaces and gardens. Millions of tourists are drawn to the Andalusian metropolis, to see this incredible palace up close.

2. The Palace of Winds, Jaipur (India)

The Hawa Mahal has a facade that impresses with its lively colors and traditional balconies. It was built as an extension of the Jaipur palace that served as an extension of the harem, so that women could observe life on the streets without being seen.

3. The Palace of Pena, Sintra (Portugal)

The Pena Palace is located in Sintra, very close to Lisbon, and has a colorful silhouette that amazes its visitors. With its mixture of Gothic, Renaissance, Manueline, Mudejar and Oriental styles, it represents 19th century Romanticism in Portugal at its best.

4. The Forbidden City, Beijing (China)

Also known as the Imperial City, the Forbidden City was  so named because its entry was forbidden to the town.  It has been open to the public since 1925, shortly after the expulsion of the last Chinese emperor. Inside the enclosure we will find rooms, sanctuaries and even spas.

5. The Palace of Versailles, Paris (France)

Declared a World Heritage Site, the Palace of Versailles was the residence of the royal family until the French Revolution. Its construction was ordered by Louis XIV, who built an imposing and majestic building with impressive gardens of more than 800 hectares.

Its image has evolved since its construction, today it became the National Museum. It is considered one of the largest in the world with more than 700 rooms, 2,000 windows, 1,250 fireplaces, 67 staircases and 1,800 hectares of gardens and parks.

6. Peterhof Palace, Saint Petersburg (Russia)

Some say that Peterhof Palace, located in Saint Petersburg, is the most beautiful in the world. Inside there is a museum of relics from all corners of the planet, it also has a park with the largest fountains in the world and the water from its sources flows a few meters into the Gulf of Finland.

Without a doubt, what was once the summer palace of the tsars is one of the most impressive buildings ever built.

7. Topkapi Palace, Istanbul (Turkey)

Located in Istanbul, it was the royal residence of the sultans who ruled the Ottoman Empire. Its construction was ordered by Sultan Mehmed II in 1459, and it was completed in 1465. It is 700,000 square meters and has four courtyards and multiple buildings, all surrounded by a Byzantine wall.

It houses several treasures such as the Cucharero diamond, an 88 carat diamond that belonged to Letizia Ramolino, Napoleon’s mother, and the topkapi dagger, considered the most expensive weapon in the world, built in gold with encrusted emeralds.
