It is the oldest national park in Canada. It was founded at the end of the 19th century with the aim of preserving the natural area that lies at the foot of the incredible Rocky Mountains. This place is also known as the park of turquoise blue waters because of the vivid color of its rivers and glacial lakes.

Some of the attractions it houses are Mount Victoria, crowned by the glacier of the same name and the main source of water for the beautiful Lake Louise; the Valley of the Ten Peaks, made up of a dozen mountains of gray rock and snow-capped peaks; and Lake Minnewanka. Under the waters of this an old town is submerged.

After the visit, and if you take the Ice Fields road, you can get to Jasper National Park. This also has glaciers, lakes, waterfalls and mountains; and it presents numerous and varied flora and fauna, in which moose, reindeer, bears and caribou stand out.

Also, Elk Island National Park offers numerous activities depending on the season: in summer you can go hiking, golfing and kayaking; and in winter, cross-country skiing, for example. Those that remain throughout the year are the wildlife watching or the campgrounds.
