Located in the Ibizan municipality of San Juan Bautista, Cala Xarraca is a beautiful cove unknown to most tourists, but ideal for resting or diving. Next, we offer you all the necessary information so as not to lose detail of this little paradise. Can you come with us?

Main characteristics of Cala Xarraca

Cala Xarraca is composed of coarse and golden sand and has dimensions of 75 meters in length by 20 meters in width. It is surrounded by cliffs that present the typical vegetation of Ibiza, that is, lush pine forests, and is located in front of some small islets that can be reached by swimming.

It is an ideal place to practice diving because of its clean, crystalline and calm waters and because the seabed is of great interest due to the large amount of fauna it houses. However, as it is a rocky bottom, bathers should be careful and not be misled by its shallow depth.

Cala Xarraca is also ideal for those who are fond of nudism. To the left there is a small path that hides a hidden part of the beautiful cove.

Regarding the services it offers, there are neither bathrooms nor showers, but there are sun loungers or umbrellas to enjoy a moment of relaxation. The area has, at the same time, the Cala Xarraca restaurant, where you can try local dishes at a good price while enjoying the views from its terrace.

As we have mentioned before, Cala Xarraca is located between two islets: islet d’es Renclí and islet of sa Mesquida. The islet d’es Renclí forms a small cove in which the sand is thick and the water is crystal clear. It is characterized by the tranquility that reigns in it throughout the day.

As for the islet of sa Mesquida, it is located at one end of Cala Xarraca. We can approach the place with some type of boat but, due to the existence of rocks that protrude from the seabed, it is best to anchor it at a depth of eight meters and simply enjoy the environment.

To the right of the cove is the dry dock area.  It is a small place, hidden and not so easy to access, but recommended due to the beautiful scenery it offers. Next to the traditional fishermen’s houses are several concrete platforms worn by the sea currents.

The area is very good to discover the seabed, full of fish, octopus or cuttlefish. It is also suitable to enjoy bathing sheltered from the currents and waves of the sea thanks to the point that protected the dry docks, from whose two or three meters high the most daring can jump into the water.

There are different ways to get to Cala Xarraca. One of them is taking the bus. However, the frequency of this is irregular, so the best option is to go by car. To do this, you just have to go along the road in the direction of Portinatx and, at kilometer 17, take a detour towards the beautiful cove.

The last 300 meters of the route are made on a paved road with a steep slope and full of curves, so you have to be careful. Once at the site, you can park your vehicle for free and without any problem of space in the surroundings of the cove.

If you want to go to the dry docks, you have to continue along the road for another 200 meters and leave the vehicle parked on one side of the road. After that, the only thing left to do is walk down a dirt road and some stairs that, unfortunately, lack any kind of indication.

In any case, if you visit Ibiza, it is highly recommended to do this little excursion. You will discover one of the most charming corners of this island.
