It is located in the southwest of the South American country and is part of Los Glaciares National Park (it is not the only one in the area, but it is the largest). It has a front of 5 kilometers in length and a height of 60 meters above sea level. On its descent it reaches the southern arm of Lake Argentino.

Due to the water pressure , leaks and vaults of up to 50 meters are produced. Many tourists flock to the Perito Moreno glacier to see the natural spectacle of the detachment of large blocks of ice. There are also boat trips to see it up close.

Either from the water, from the ground or the sky, you can see the white and blue tones of this great millenary formation.

Within the Torres del Paine National Park, the Gray glacier is part of the so-called “Southern Ice Fields”. This great mass of ice 6 kilometers wide and 30 meters high is divided into two fronts. It should be noted that 20 years ago its total area was 270 km², about 90 less than today.

In some areas it is gray due to the abrasion produced by the ice and the sliding of rocky fragments under the glacier. That is why it bears that name.

5. Fox Glacier, New Zealand

Believe it or not, in the lands of All Blacks there are glaciers! And almost all of them are impressive, as is the case of the Fox. It has arches and caves of great magnitude and one of the things that attracts the most attention is that it is in the middle of a rain forest. To finish the tour of the area, we recommend visiting the Fraz Josef glacier, a few kilometers away.

6.Glacier Breidamerkurjokull, Iceland

The name is not really the important thing, not only because it is difficult to read and pronounce but because when you look at it… you will even forget your name! It is of unparalleled beauty and its main characteristic is that it has ice needles that give it a very peculiar appearance.

The large blocks of ice that break off from this glacier end up in the waters of Lake Jokulsárlón, the largest in the country. If you are a movie lover, you will like to know that two well-known films were filmed here: Tomb Raider and Batman Begins.

7. Spegazzini Glacier, Argentina

Another of the giants of Los Glaciares National Park, in the province of Santa Cruz. It borders the Magallanes region, in Chile and draws attention because its front is 135 meters high (it is the highest in the area). Its surface area is 66 km² and is located on Lake Argentino, in the Spegazzini arm.

Boat trips are organized from Puerto Bandera to get to know it in the foreground. The route also visits the Upsala glacier, in the arm of the same name. The contrast of colors here is wonderful, as it is surrounded by great vegetation.

¿ Impressed with the beauty of these glaciers ? Not for nothing are they the most beautiful in the world. Organize a trip to meet them and marvel live and direct.
