Swing of the end of the world in Ecuador: a fantastic site

Ecuador is one of the Latin American countries that can provide us with the most surprises during a trip. Among them, one stands out whose name is already a true claim: the one known as the end of the world swing. It cannot be more promising and, really, when you swing in it, you feel like you are looking into the abyss.

The charms of Ecuador

As we say, Ecuador has a lot to offer. It has coastal territories bathed by the Pacific Ocean and also has areas of mountains in the Andes mountain range. It even has one of the most fascinating archipelagos that can be visited in the world due to its high scientific and ecological value. We refer to the Galapagos Islands.

But in addition to this, within the territory of Ecuador you can visit towns full of history and traditions. Many of them have lived for centuries in the shadow of large volcanoes. Well, that same union of attractive places and volcanoes is what awaits us if we visit the swing at the end of the world, near the town of Baños de Agua Santa.

How to get to the swing at the end of the world

It is clear that to rock in the vertigo produced by the swing at the end of the world, you must first get to that town of Baños de Agua Santa. The city is located more or less in the center of the country, in the province of Tungurahua. It is practically equidistant from the two great cities of Ecuador: its monumental capital, Quito, and the coastal city of Guayaquil.

And once in Baños, you have to take the road that leads to Puyo and follow it to the detour that indicates the end of the world swing itself and the Rutún farmhouse. So in just over half an hour you will bridge the distance of 14 kilometers that there is. And if you’ve got up early, you can enjoy a simply spectacular and unforgettable swing.

Pleasure and adrenaline on the swing at the end of the world

In this area of Baños de Agua Santa, as in many other places in Ecuador, you can vibrate with adventure activities for the most intrepid. From going down the streams of the Blanco River to going on a mountain bike through these Andean landscapes, going through rafting in the waters of the Pastaza River.

Well, swinging on the swing at the end of the world is also an adventure that causes an adrenaline rush. But, in reality, it is a very pleasant experience above all. We have all climbed on a swing, well, the speed and rhythm is identical to that of any park, with the difference that here we look at the crater of a huge Andean volcano.

The Tungurahua volcano

This volcano is one of those that make up the most rugged area of Ecuador. In addition, it  continues to emit fumaroles, since it is a volcano that has its small eruptions from time to time. And this makes it even more spectacular to fly on this swing, which hangs from a huge tree and is more than 2,600 meters above sea level.

It is worth the trip to make that little flight over the cliff of the crater and contemplate a captivating landscape of Ecuador. Of course, we recommend you go up as soon as possible, so that there is a good light in the morning and, incidentally, that there are still no long lines to swing.

In addition, you must go up with someone, since it is essential that our travel companion immortalize that moment on the swing at the end of the world with a wonderful photo.

Other attractions of Baños de Agua Santa

The swing of the end of the world has given Baños a great tourist projection, but this place was already well known in Ecuador for its thermal water springs with medicinal properties.

And another reason for the tourist recognition of this place is that nearby is another of the wonders that Ecuador offers: the Pailón del Diablo. It is an amazing waterfall that you will have to contemplate from a fragile suspension bridge, an experience only suitable for the bravest.
