Before visiting another place, you must climb to the top of Cerro del Corcovado, where Christ the Redeemer is located. To do this, you can ride a bus, which is the simplest, fastest and cheapest option; or take the famous Corcovado Train, which leaves every half hour and whose journey lasts twenty minutes.

Once at the top we will have a spectacular panoramic view, as the city of Rio Janeiro is located at the foot of the Corcovado hill, guarded at all times by Christ the Redeemer. It is also impressive to be under one of the seven wonders of the modern world, both for its dimensions – it measures 30 meters – and for its beauty.

On the other hand, the pedestal on which the Christ the Redeemer sits houses a chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Aparecida, the patron saint of Brazil. Inside there are two small images of the same: one in a built-in showcase and closed with a glass and illuminated on the Tabernacle; and another on the marble altar.

The Cerro del Corcovado is part of the Tijuca National Park, but it is not the only place from which you can see Christ the Redeemer , even if it is more meters away. Within the park, the so-called Carioca Sector is of particular interest, made up of authentic natural wonders, among which the Jardin waterfalls stand out.

It is also essential to visit the Doña Marta viewpoint, which offers almost total panoramic views of Rio de Janeiro, being at 340 meters of altitude. In addition, it shows a beautiful angle of the Sugar Loaf, the Maracanã stadium, the Guanabara bay and, of course, the Christ the Redeemer. Hence, it is one of the most visited in the city.

Equally recommended is the Vista Chinesa, which houses a Chinese-style temple that serves as a viewpoint and was built at the beginning of the 20th century in honor of the eastern country. The path that leads to the place is easily accessible, but involves a steep climb, ideal for those who want to go trekking or cycling.

Another place of interest in the Tijuca National Park is the Lage Park, which, nestled at the foot of Christ the Redeemer, has 52 hectares of beautiful gardens that surround a Roman palace. You should also stop at the Paineiras viewpoint, which is on the way up to the statue and offers views of the lagoon and Ipanema Beach.

This hill, almost four hundred meters high, allows tourists to enjoy privileged views of Rio de Janeiro. Not only can you see Christ the Redeemer, but also other sites, such as Guanabara Bay, the most important in Brazil. The latter, in addition to having the city’s port, boasts a rich ecosystem.

To ascend to the top of the Sugar Loaf there is a cable car called Bondinho, which departs from Vermelha beach and has a capacity for sixty-five passengers.

Likewise, it runs a route of 1,400 meters between the hills of Babilonia and Urca, where there is an amphitheater that is used for various events. The best thing is to take it during the sunset to be enchanted by the magic of the moment and the place.

From here you have a complete panoramic view of the southern area of Rio de Janeiro, from the skyscrapers on the first line of the Copacabana and Ipanema beaches to the Christ the Redeemer and the Sugarloaf Mountain, passing through the Rodrigo de Freitas Lake. The latter occupies most of the region and communicates with the Atlantic through the Jardim de Alah canal.

Returning to the Morro de Dois Irmaos, it reaches a height of 533 meters, being higher than the Pan de Azúcar, but lower than the Cerro del Corcovado.

In addition to the views it offers or being a perfect setting for trekking , it stands out because it houses a sculpture signed by the Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer and for the monument dedicated to the victims of flight AF-447.
