The best rooftops in Madrid, rooftops to enjoy al fresco

The summer in Madrid is not the most palatable. The high temperatures make being in the capital in the summer time complicated, but the city continues to offer dozens of different plans. Today we propose what is perhaps the coolest plan: we are going to visit and enjoy one of the many rooftops  in Madrid.

We want to show you a tour of the best rooftop terraces in the city. Why? Because this way you will be able to combat the heat of the Madrid summer and, in addition, you will be able to contemplate fabulous views. Take a pencil and paper because you will want to know them all!

At the heart of Madrid is Áticos 11, a true oasis among the chaos of asphalt. In addition to the wonderful views, the rooftop of the Iberostar Las Letras Gran Vía hotel offers food – we recommend its sandwiches, its sea bass tartars and its famous tin cans – and drinks in a unique setting.

Where? At the Iberostar Las Letras hotel, Gran Vía number 11.

One of the most famous rooftops in Madrid is the one that crowns the Círculo de Bellas Artes. Tartan Roof offers, for the € 3 entrance fee, one of the best views of Madrid. It also has a restaurant with an interesting menu.

Where? Círculo de Bellas Artes, Calle Alcalá number 42.

Nice to meet you

It is located in the heart of Madrid, right on the corner between Gran Vía and Calle de Los Reyes and with Plaza de España at its feet. The hotel he is in, the Dear Hotel, is a marvel in itself. Opened not too long ago, it knows how to perfectly combine the elements that the hotel had and other contemporary ones.

Nothing very different happens on the terrace, where we can find modern cuisine, cocktails of all kinds and DJs on weekend nights.

Where? Dear Hotel, Gran Vía number 80.

Florida Retiro, one of the most unique rooftops in Madrid

Terraza Florida Retiro

One of the most special and charming places you can find in Madrid. This is Florida Retiro where apart from that enclave that we just mentioned, you can find a wonderful restaurant where you can enjoy a good time.

We especially recommend its cold offer based on Iberian, ceviches or sushis. It is a quiet and different place where you can enjoy an afternoon or a night in good company. This has many possibilities of becoming, after your visit, one of your favorites in the city.

Where? Walk of the Republic of Panama number 1.

The upper terrace – Hotel Óscar

This is perhaps the most relaxed and least “party” proposal that we have made you so far. This is reflected in the prices, somewhat higher than the rest.

For € 40 you can spend the whole day on the terrace (half a day is € 20). The price includes champagne, a tequila and a towel because yes, it has a pool, making it one of the most desirable places when the temperature rises as it does in the capital.

Where? Óscar Hotel, Vázquez de Mella square number 12.

Mint Roof

Another of the best known and most visited rooftops in Madrid. It is located in the center and overlooking Gran Vía. This rooftop offers a very youthful and fresh atmosphere, with drinks and food offered by a food truck .

When the sun goes down, from Thursday to Saturday, the terrace fills with people and a bell is rung. From that moment on, the music selection for that day begins and a shot of mint is distributed among the attendees. From Monday to Wednesday, the most foodies will  enjoy proposals from different cuisines of the world.

Where? Hotel Vincci, Gran via number 10.

The Terrace of Cibeles

In the famous Plaza de Cibeles there is a most peculiar terrace, since it is located inside the Madrid City Council building.

On the eighth floor of the also known as Palacio de Cibeles or Palacio de Correos, you can enjoy one of the best views of the city until 8:00 p.m. From that time you can continue with the evening two floors below, until 2 am between daily and until 2:30 pm on weekends.

Where? Post Office Palace, Plaza de Cibeles.
